I'm not sure it is a scorpion but all points out to it. I found this specie today on the veranda. Thanks to Bob B. I know now that it is a cast (shed) of a cicade. Pictures of Bob you can find on http://www.pbase.com/bbellngr
It is the cast (shed) skin of a cicada (related to aphids and plant hoppers), and insect that lives underground sucking on tree roots, then emerges as an adult to live shortly in the trees, singing it's heart out for friends and a mate. The white threads are the everted linings of it's spriacles, which are the tubes insects take in air through during respiration.
