6 Avocado

Melbourne, Australia

The avocado (Persea americana), also known as palta or aguacate (Spanish), butter pear or alligator pear,
is a tree native to the Middle, Central and South America,
classified in the flowering plant family Lauraceae along with cinnamon, camphor and bay laurel.
Avocado intake lowers the cholesterol levels and the fibre in avocados also helps to prevent high blood pressure.

I like to eat them with a mustard, garlic vinaigrette sauce or with La vache qui rit cheese.

Beautiful Avocado! This looks like the Calavo Avocados grown in Southern California. Nice shot!

This one looks like you can eat with a spoon easily..so ripe. I like it with shrimps, lemon juice and fresh mint and black pepper, just a bit!

Love guacamole! This one looks perfectly ripe. Maybe Walter could send us all some. They are sometimes a bit pricey here...

Avocado with vinaigrette is a perfect salad. This looks like a perfect avocado too!

We always have avocado in the house. San Diego is the top avocado growing region in the U.S. so it is very cheap and plentiful here. Many people have avocado trees in their yards, they are easy to maintain and don't require much care. Nice shot by the way.

Ooo yes! Chopped up into a green salad, served with a light French dressing...magical!

Yes, they are very healthy. And delicious too. I love them, plain, with a little lemon juice and pepper, or filled with shrimps, salmon or whatever.
Excellent shot.

Yummy picture ~ I had some today on French bread with rosemary and garlic; spread it like butter on the bread. Also enjoy them in salads with spinach, celery, carrot.
