The Alabama Jazz and Blues Federation brings River Jam to Montgomery, Alabama each year. It is one of my favorite musical events in the area.

The artists are always great and there is enough variety to satisfy most anyone's taste. It's not so big that it wears you out. It is always in September, so the weather has cooled down somewhat. It is held under the historic Union Station Train Shed so, in the event of rain, I get to stay dry.

That all adds up to a great time.

This years artists:

• Bulletproof Marshmallows - a local Ska band.
  
• Roy Carrier - South Louisiana Zydeco.
  
• Papa Grows Funk - Best funk band in New Orleans in 2002.
  
• Eddie Bo - New Orleans piano giant blending jazz, blues, funk, and the New Orleans rhythm.
  
• Robben Ford - A guitar player's guitarist who covers fusion jazz to R&B to blues.
