1969...THE NATIONAL SCENE
The capstone of a decade know as the Psychedelic Sixties... Peace, Love and Flower Power were the buzz words... Richard Nixon was President... Neil Armstrong was walking on the moon... Hemlines were still going up... Hairlines were still going down... And half a million young people got together in upstate New York for something called Woodstock.
1969...THE LOCAL SCENE
We were capping off our own decade known as the Adolescent Years... Red, White, and Go Generals were the buzz words... Albert Brewer was Govenor... Glenn Stanford and Ann Armstrong were walking down a country road... Hemlines were under the careful observation of all the guys... Hairlines were under the watchful eyes of Mr. Carter... And several hundred young people got together in Montgomey for something called Senior Year.

Those were special times... A time when Lee vs. Lanier created a full week of spirited Pep Rallies, hallway rumbles, Atlanta Highway bonfires, and raids on Susie's Drive-In... A time when a dollar's worth of gas would let you cruise all weekend... A time to meet the gang at Tastee Freeze for the original Cherry Coke... A time of AM radio and "Big BAM" Shows... A time to party with your favorite local band at the East YMCA Coffee House... And afterwards... Well, remember how the windows always fogged up in Marshall's Field?
2009...GOOD TIMES REMEMBERED
Forty Years Later... Wow, four decades have flown by and Robert E. Lee High School classmates scattered all across the country have have met once again to celebrate those special times of Senior Year 1969. Here are a few photos. Enjoy the memories.
