Browse

This is a photo of Browse, taken in March 2005. We adopted Browse in
December of 2001 after her owner passed away very unexpectedly.
John knew Cheryl, her former owner, for at least 35 years. She is/was
the sister of Steve, our firefighter friend, who died seven months later,
in July of 2002. His death was also very unexpected.

Today we made the extremely hard decision to euthanize poor Browse. She
had been getting weaker and in the last few days lost the ability to stand.
She had stopped eating and cried in pain everytime she tried to move. Even
with all that, it was still a hard decision. It's been a very sad day.

Browse was between 15 and 16 years-old.

So sorry to hear about your loss. It's very hard to lose a loved one. I don't think we ever get over losing our four-legged family...

Oh no! I just saw this, CHERYL! I'm soooo sorry! Browse was so sweet when I met her, she was just a big teddy bear. I'm sooo sorry, it's the hardest thing to do, I had to do it to my cat a few years ago, but I KNOW it was right. :-(

Browse was lucky to have you as her second owner. Not many people will adopt an older dog after the death of owner. I am so sorry for your loss, but thank you for being their for Browse.

!5 plus years is a nice age for mid sized dog, I am sure she had a good life.

I know how much you love animals and what Browse meant to you because of Cheryl and Steve. You can feel good about yourselves for the care and love you gave to them through all you did for Browse. You are both special
Love, Mom

It's been about 15 years since I had my cat Shadow put to sleep so I know what you're going through. He too was in a lot of pain and couldn't stand. When I took him to the vet I think he knew what was coming and was okay with it. He just lay in my lap and slept as best he could. I know he is resting peacefully now as I'm sure you know Browse is too.

I have never been faced with that situation, but have many friends who have and they all found it difficult like you describe... Thank you for sharing a close personal side of your life Cheryl...
