Roof Ladders

Our woodstove chimney pipe is on the other side of the roof peak. John used these ladders
to get up there and clean the creosote out of the pipe. We now have a hi-tech
kerosone stove so the ladders are going unused.

That's the last bit of snow, from the New Year's eve storm, left on this part of the roof.
There is still plenty on the other side of the roof, and the driveway, and the yard, and…

I don't remember ever seeing or hearing about a roof ladder...thanks for the information and the photo. I'm glad he doesn't have to get up there anymore!

It'll be melted by spring :-)

Nothing like a challenge. Winter doesn't make anything easier. The bluish tones make it look all the colder.

nice colour and lines, looks like you'd need thermals to go up there though brrr...

Nice composition and contrast. Roofs are so easy to fall down from...

You wouldn't catch me up there, snow or no snow! How did you think of shooting this?
Karen Stuebing17-Jan-2005 12:02
Neat perspective and pretty blue tones. You wouldn't catch me going up that ladder. :)

Nice clear shot Cheryl. That snow is amazing sitting there.

Creosote in the chimney; brings back memories....of the night the heavy, foggy, air on the shore of Lake Michigan caused the smoke to stop rising from the stove and the creosote ran down the sorta hot chimney pipe and burned nasty stinky smoke into the room...despite having a catalytic converter that was supposed to lessen creosote.

Yow, I hate climbing up on roofs. I am not good with heights at all. I like the lines through this. Interesting shot.

I really like the colors and contrast in this shot

Very nice image and an interesting story.

I like an image with a story behind it - especially one you couldn't guess from the image - it's like 2 for the price of one; what you think when you first see it, and the second when you read the words.... nice one.

nice, and still you have snow!
