SP Inspired by Ian and Klimt

Ian Chappell posted a very nice selfportrait yesterday, it gave me the idea for
this Photoshopped SP.

I'm VERY nervous about posting this. Partially because of
the size of my body (I tried to clone out some of my "love handles")
and partially because I feel really strange exposing myself like this.
(I have trouble with posting a SP of my face!!!) I tried to make this selfportrait
as artistic as possible. I've taken many life drawing classes and enjoyed
the variety of shapes of the human body.

In a way, I'm posting this because of a phone conversation I had last
night and how the American conventional idea of beauty is so narrow.
And many things, like hiring for a job, are based on how we look, rather
than our skills.

So look at this in the spirit it was intended. A SP of my backside, merged with
the beauty of nature. I'm trying to find my beauty.

Great colors and shapes

It's a perfect, sweet, rich, creative self-portrait and I think sincerely you are splendid, mostly if you don't look like the usual and stereotyped American beauty standard ( Barbie? A lot of lipstick, hairspry? Lifted ,pathetic faces without expression? A sculpted body, without any real life, softenees, personality?...I don't know, might someone give me a hint?)
I like the colours, the idea and all what there is behind

Beautiful job. I have never been one to be attracted to the American standard of beauty or handsomeness. So I don't get that whole thing. And I bet a lot of other people are like me.

I was right about the abstract quality of the leaves photo. :) Nice work, Cheryl

Extraordinary! I was every bit as impressed with your caption, as with this wonderful photo. It isn't easy to take a risk, and express our fears. Your courage is noted and appreciated. :)

You deserve a medal for bravery, Cheryl. Now I know what I'm looking at, in the thumbnail it's quite clear...which means artistically you did extremely well.

Stunning ~ no need to be worried about posting this beauty!

Beautiful image, Cheryl!
I love the colours of the leaves and the relection.
We are what we are!
Linda Alstead03-Dec-2004 20:06
wow - it took me ages to work out the photo - beautiful and brave - what a brilliant shot.

You are right to kick against the boundaries of 'beauty' - most of the truly beautiful people I know are far from a 'perfect' size but it doesn't detract from their beauty one iota.

Good on you Cheryl

Thanks you guys!

Danny, I work and view on a Mac. I'm never sure of how my photos actually look on a Windows PC. I use the setting in Photoshop that supposedly shows me how it looks in Windows, but…
Guest 03-Dec-2004 19:17
Great work!!! It is almost like one of those images you have to stare at for a while before you actually see the picture. Took me a while. Good job!

Cheryl, congratulations on a very creative and wonderfully colorful "SP". I think you did a beautiful job. Congrats also on the courage to do it. You'll have to describe your set-up and photoshop work on it sometime. You go, girl. :)
