Queen Mary First Class Swimming Pool

Long Beach, California

Our Nikon rep arranged a tour of just 20 of us to visit some places you don't get to go on a regular QM tour. (We had to pay extra for it. :-) )
This is the first-class swimming pool. It was built in an Art Deco style. As you can see, decades of decay have left it in a state of disrepair.
They couldn't say whether it will be part of the restorations.

The pool was built over decks C and D and featured a level at the top, where guests could look down over the pool. It is a large pool, 60 x 40ft (18 x 12 Metres).

During WWII, the QM was converted to a troop ship.
The pool was kept drained and the room was turned into a 3 level bunk house, made of a wooden scaffold system where the steel cots were fastened.

There is no doubt the Queen Mary was a grand ship in her day. Nicely composed and captured and the included information regarding her history is a nice addition to this presentation. V+

And if there is a sign that says "No Diving"? I strongly suggest that you obey it. Or carry your own mattress to land on.
It would have been spectacular in its day.
