Moses Sculpture by Michelangelo

Rome, Italy

This carved marble figure of Moses with horns can be seen inside the church St Peter in Chains in Rome.
Moses has horns due to a miss-translation of Hebrew. “Radiated light” and “grew horns” are similar in Hebrew and the Latin translation of the Bible that would have been available when Michelangelo was working on the sculpture between 1513 and 1515. He went with “horns.”
Easier than carving "radiated light."

Mike's horns remind of the manual peace symbol...what a muscular fellow he is too..

A fine capture of this sculpture and an interesting narrative. I thought those looked like horns when I first looked at it (but couldn't believe it). V.
