Giganticus Headicus

Antares Point, Arizona

This is on display at the Antares Visitors Center. I have no idea why! It is a 14 ft tall Tiki style head created in 2003 by local artist Gregg Arnold. Beyond that, I don't know the significance of it.

Antares Point is along the longest continuous curve on a U.S. Hwy (approx. 2 miles) and offers fantastic views into the Arizona desert.

I know this place! Back in about 1970ish I remember sitting in this place when it was a coffee shop. We had a long discussion about the pro and cons of buying lots in Lake Mead Rancheros. (The mailboxes belong to those who live there now) They had a big billboard across the road with a big arrow directing folks to turn in and take a look. This building then was tones of brown and there was the coffee shop and a land office. The Tiki head and all the weird colors were somewhere in the future. We took our annual Christmas trip to California and I got to watch I-40 push Route 66 aside. Strangely enough I did end up owning land in Mohave County.

That is strange - looks a bit like an old fashioned French policeman. An interesting place to stop. V

That sure is bizarre, but you got a great capture of it. V.
