The Bogside is a majority Catholic/Irish republican neighborhood outside the city walls in Derry.
In the 18th century, Catholics were forbidden to live inside the city walls so they settled here.
The bogside gets it's name from the fact that it was originally underwater. The name dates back to 1600. The "Bogside Artists" have created 12 murals here known as The People's Gallery of the Bogside Derry.
The murals stretch the length of Rossville Street.
