Independence Monument

Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Located in the heart of the city, Independence Monument was built in 1958 to commemorate the country’s independence from France in 1953. It is modeled after the stupas that can be seen at Angkor Wat. At night, it is lit up and quite colorful.
It also serves as a memorial to Cambodia’s war dead. Wreaths are laid here on national holidays.

That's a beautiful monument. I'm surprised that the Khmer Rouge didn't have it destroyed. Nice catch! V!
