Cpt. Alvie J. Ledford

Vietnam Memorial Wall Washington DC

Alvie Ledford was my first "stick" mate in Flight School at Ft. Wolters, Tx. I ran into one of our class mates in the summer of 1969 in South Vietnam and he told me that Alvie had been killed in combat. He was flying a cobra when it was hit by a missile. There were no tracers, so it was suspected that he was hit by a Russian "strella" shoulder mounted heat seeking missile. Alvie was a natural pilot. The great pilots got to fly gunships. The "lucky" ones lived to come home!

Lt. Parsley - just let me say wow. You have captured the culture and spirit of S Vietnam. I am working on a book. A sequel to a novel I wrote. In this sequel, the pilots who have flown in Korea are going for tour of duty during the Tet offensive. The gal in the novel worked USO at saigon and Vung Tau. I love these photos. I would like to visit with you at some point to get some details on what I am seeing. Please feel free to contact me.

Great photos with excellent quality. Very moving. Very touching! Thank you!
