Santorini , (ancient Thera), is perched on the edge of the Caldera created by a massive volcanic eruption in ancient times, and is the southernmost island in the Cyclades. Perched on a steep cliffside, the whitewashed houses and little domed churches are a photographer's delight! Santorini is also the setting for the famous ruins at Akroteri. Unfortunately, the archeaological site is closed to tourism due to structural problems with the roof over the site, so we were unable to see Akroteri on this trip. INstead, this gallery has images that evoke the colors and shapes of the island that are so fascinating to photograph.
