Turkey - Istanbul May-June 2010

A recent trip to Greece provided an opportunity to extend a few days in Istanbul, where we haven't been in several years. Visiting some of our favorite sites was a treat, though we were surprised at then large crowds in places like Hagia Sophia where we have seen much fewer visitors on past trips. Nevertheless, it was an opportunity to add a gallery of images that I had not photographed since film days. I hope you enjoy my visit!

Many excellent choices here........some breath-taking and others providing a good array of life in an exotic city spanning across two continents. If I had to choose, it would be the vertical shot of the scaffolding in Aghia Sophia. The meeting of medieval and modern in a mesmerizing perspective seems, to me, to capture the essence of Istanbul.
