On the way from Delphi to Nauphlion, we passed over the Corinth Canal which was built between 1882 and 1893 and connects the Gulf of Corinth to the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean sea.
The canal is 6,939 yards long, and the same width as the Suez canal (75.6 feet wide), and shortens the journey by 200 miles for shipping.
I was sorry that no ship was passing through, but I guess you can't have everything !
