Nefertari's Temple.jpg

Nefertari was Ramses II's favorite and chief queen.
This temple at Abu Simbel adjoins Ramses II's temple, and both were cut apart and raised from their living rock site some 200+ feet below,
when they were to be innundated by Lake Nasser following the the building of the Aswan High Dam in 1960's.
The monumental moving was a joint effort of Egypt, the US and UNESCO.
The temples are 19th dynasty, and built between 1290-1224 BC on the Nubian Border (now Sudan).
