A crowd of tourists admires the copy of Lorenzo Ghiberti's "Gates of Paradise" on the East side of the Baptistery in Florence.
The original doors were taken into the Museo del Duomo in the early 80's for restoration,
which has revealed most of the original gilding that was applied over the bronze doors at their creation between 1425-52.
Guides usually alert the tourists to the fact that these are not the original doors, which are on exhibit in the Museo del Duomo,
and will be kept there in a new part of the museum which is under construction.
This will preserve the doors in their almost original glory for future generations.
