IMG_5067 Baristas at the Uffizi.jpg

The Uffizi museum in Florence is arguably the greatest museum of Italian Renaissance painting in the world,
not to mention some of the greatest masters of the Baroque and other periods.
Buying a ticket for a timed entry reservation online is highly recommended in order to avoid the long lines that form daily

For photographers, it should be noted that no photos are allowed in most Italian state museums, including the Uffizi.
There are several reasons for this restriction, including crowd control (we take up too much time setting up our pictures),
danger of damage to works of art from people careless with big camera bags, or not turning off flash which can damage
fragile works of art, (especially works of art on paper), and copyright laws protecting the works of art owned by the
museums, as well as those of lendors of works of art for special exhibitions.
So put away your cameras, and enjoy the magnificent art that has been carefully preserved by these institutions for our enjoyment !

The ban on photos doesn't extend to the Uffizi's caffe bar or the outdoor balcony overlooking the Pza. Signoria.
I got this shot of the frantic activity in the caffe bar !
