Carolyn with Warhol's "Ten Lizzies" (1963) .jpg

Andy Warhol, an icon of modern art , was a leader and innovator in the Pop Art Movement which began in the late '1950's,
Affectionately known as "Dandy Andy with the silver wig",
his work encompasses oversized images of such mundane things as Campbell soup cans and Coke bottles,
glorifying ordinary things we take for granted and never really look at.

Warhol also made many silk-screen portraits of the rich and famous, like this multiple image portrait of Elizabeth Taylor,
as well as portraits, both in color and black and white, of celebrities like Marilyn Monroe, Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson, and Elvis Presley among others.

Andy Warhol, himself "famous for being famous", along with one of his "hangers-on" Ultra Violet,
coined the term that everyone is "Famous for 15 Mintues".

Warhol is just plain fun and easy, and his work makes us look at things we never really "see".
