On our drive to our first Ger Camp you could hear the cries "Yak" Yak" Stop! stop! We stopped our drives so we could take pictures of our first Yak spotted on the roadside! We had two people to a Ger and the pictures show what the interior looks like. The nomadic Ger we visit later are very similar. Note the colors are always the same: Orange for the Sun(strength), Blue for the sky, Green for plant life. The Ger are constructed of a wood lattice with the spokes resting on top. Lashed usually with braided camel-hair rope. The first layer is felt again made from animal hair. The outside layer can be waterproof or canvas. The Ger was warm or cool depending on the weather with the door usually facing south. Nomads put the furniture usually consisiting of an altar, and beds, in a circle first then build the Ger around them. It takes aproximately an hour for a nomad to construct the Ger. My only consternation was the big black beetles that dropped out of the felt during the night!
