What a timeless image this is. I guess that some of the materials in the photo, especially the plastics, could only be contemporary. But the women coming together to scrub the clothes and lay them flat in the sunlight---that could be a scene from any of the last several hundred years. And here I've been fussing because our dishwasher needs repairs. This looks like very hard work. I think I'll stop complaining.
The photo itself, with the cheerful colors and energetic activity, is delightful and refreshing despite the labor involved.
