Makkarapuu = Kigelia africana is an African tree, the only type of family. It is named after its sausage shaped fruits.

The tree grows up to 20 meters (about 60 feet) high. Its flowers are red, large, funnel-shaped. Birds, monkeys and insects enjoy the rich nectar of the flowers. The fruit can weigh 9 pounds, i.e. more than 4 kilos.
