Fireplace at 405 South (February 1939).

The fireplace dates from ca. 1930 when Julia Twomey (Gram) took over the house and merged two rooms. Several family artifacts can be seen, which I still have. The Hessian soldier andirons were cast by David Gonyer. On the mantle there are three photographs (from left): the wedding picture of Alvin Cerny and Julia Twomey Cerny on the front lawn at 405 South; a portrait of John Joseph Twomey, Gram's husband, who died in 405 South in February 1930 after a career as caretaker at the Hill Farm; Alvin Cerny in his naval uniform. On the table is a portrait of Julia Twomey Cerny, before marriage.
