Dennis Goodwin 1945 - 2017

C. Dennis Goodwin II, age 72, of High Bridge, NJ passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at home.

He was born on March 11, 1945 in Danville, KY. While he spent his childhood in Kentucky, he moved to Tennessee at age 11, where he would reside for most of his life. Dennis and his wife moved to High Bridge, NJ 11 years ago to be closer to their grandchildren.



He was the son of the late Rev. C. D. Goodwin Sr. and Muriel Ruby Panter Goodwin.



Dennis was the husband of Mary Beth Connaghan Goodwin, celebrating 39 years of marriage. He was a retired manager for AT&T, working in their cellular division. Memberships include St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in High Bridge, NJ.



Dennis loved to cook and entertain. He especially enjoyed having his friends and family over and would love to tell stories about his childhood in Kentucky. He loved people and will always be remembered for being social. His biggest love was his grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling; especially to Italy and on cruises. He was an avid University of Tennessee and Alabama football fan.



Survivors in addition to his loving wife include two daughters; O’Brien Speckin and her husband Kevin of Annandale, NJ and Denise Fitzgerald of Memphis, TN. Three sons; Gregory Herschell and his wife Iola of Apollo Beach, FL, Tyler Herschell and his wife Tracy of San Antonio, TX and Dee Goodwin and his wife Marla of Collierville, TN. Fourteen grandchildren; Mary Speckin, Finn Speckin, Nora Speckin, Lyla Speckin, Rayna Speckin, Jessie Rickey, Jed Rickey, Jared Rickey, Joshua Herschell, Mackenzie Herschell, Maddison Herschell, Jacob Herschell, Wesley Goodwin and Reagan Goodwin. Dennis is also survived by six siblings; Joann, Adrienne, Rosalind, Phyllis, Connie and Bama.



Memorial Mass will take place on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 10am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 59 Main Street, High Bridge, NJ. Interment will be private.



Arrangements by Naughright-Scarponi Funeral Home in High Bridge, NJ.
