After graduation from UT Knoxville in 1967 I came back to Memphis and was assistant director of the Memphis Academy of Arts for a couple of years. After three years of matrimonial preparation and the good life of undergraduate school, I married the most wonderful woman in the world in 1967--.the former Jill Rule of Covington. She is beautiful; gets more so each passing year and is more than I ever expected in a life mate. We do everything together--work on the farm, fish, travel, cook, play golf, and enjoy taking ballroom dancing lessons.
I considered graduate school in 1969 but was offered a job with UT at the Martin campus and we moved to nearby Union City, Tennessee, in 1969. Worked for UT in administration from 1969-75. Did some graduate work there but never finished. Left the struggling budget constraints of the university system and went to work for a locally owned bank in Union City in 1975... have survived five buyouts, and will have been with the company for 28 years in December.
We have two children--Jason Sharp (31) who is a graphic artist and media consultant in Nashville and Amanda Kathryn Person (29), an attorney in Marietta, Georgia. Both are married, but no grandchildren yet. We're anxiously hoping.
I dabbled in freelance fashion and sports photography in college and while at the art academy. Jill, a teacher and dental hygienist, picked it up in 1972 and we have operated a photograpy studio and frame shop/gallery business since 1973 specializing in weddings, seniors, commercial, etc.
Hope to retire from the bank in four more years and sell the photo business. Still play a lot of golf and spend the rest of my time piddling on our little hobby farm where we built our new home in in 1998. If you like the pastoral, laid back tranquility of trees, hills, creeks, and lakes, we have lots of room for visitors and you are all welcome. We'll even throw in a pair of 4 wheelers, two black labs, a golden retriever, and our ever changing population of ducks and geese on the lake.
The CHS website is wonderful!! It's delightfult to rekindle old friendship and chat with classmates.
