My first adventure began as a freshman at the Univ of Georgia where I was a student for 2 years. Transferred to MSU when it was time for my sister, Anne, to head of the college. After one semester at MSU, I was restless and not particularly sure of what I wanted to do so I answered an add for Flight Attendants (Hostesses) for TWA. Much to my amazement I was accepted so I headed to Kansas City, MO, for training and then to New York City for my first "domicile". This was one of the highlights of my life! I really enjoyed all aspects of flying but between the bus strike in the city and the mechanics strike of 5 major airlines, TWA being one of them, and 3 months of no paychecks, I decided the best recourse was to return to MSU and finish my degree in elementary education.
I graduated in Aug 1968 and managed to teach at Hollywood Elem., get married, get divorced, move to Illinois and back, and sort of get back on track. Thanks to Gail Fogleman, Bill and I met in the summer of 1973; we married the next Aug. I was teaching at Woodstock Elem. and Bill was working for Holiday Inns or Plough....our son, Clinton, was born Aug, 1974. We moved to Tallahassee, FL, in March of 1980 for Bill to try his hand at an HMO; then to St Louis in March of '82; our daughter, Anne, was born in June, 1983; then to the Dallas area (Flower Mound) in Jan, 1984 for Bill's job with Zale Jewelers (thanks to Gene Morphis, a fellow Memphian). Zale was bought out by a Canadian company in 1987 so guess what(?), it was time for us to move again. This time we landed in Bowling Green, KY, and Bill commuted to Scottsville to work for Dollar General. Much to my surprise this was our last move - Bill retired in 1999 when the company moved it's headquarters to Goodlettsville.
During all of this time I worked at odd jobs and always part-time. My first job here was with the Bowling Green Public Library as an assistant. After a couple of years I noticed an interesting sounding job in the local paper for an adult education director for the local Girl Scout office. So for the next five years I taught adults how to be Girl Scout leaders - meetings, badges, outings, even outdoor camping skills (I did avoid sleeping in a tent, though); I published a monthly service center newsletter; I was older girl liaison and program person - repelling from a 30' beech tree, high ropes courses, whitewater rafting, etc. - all sorts of things that I never dreamed of doing in my whole life! When Anne entered junior high I decided it was time to give up my fun and 6 nights a week Girl Scout activities and stay closer to home. Within a couple of months I was back at the BG Public Library where I stayed until last summer. The last 3 years there were my favorite - I drove the "Kidmobile" bookmobile services to the local day cares, PDO's, several small private schools and pulled and delivered books to teachers in the schools here who needed extra materials for special units. Because of several bouts with vertigo "they" decided it was no longer safe for me to drive so I decided to retire! I have stayed active in the Presbyterian church with each move which is always a blessing!
Clinton is married to Kelly Lucas and they have 3 children. Meredith and Connor are 7 year old twins and Cameron is 4 (almost 5) year old clone of his dad! Clinton works as a photographer for the local newspaper and should finish his degree from Western Ky Univ. sometime in the near future. Our daughter, Anne, is currently living, going to school and working in Lake Havasu City, AZ........she just started this past fall so I have absolutely no idea when she will finish..........they tend to take their time!
