Fortress of Afyonkarahisar is located on the top of a vertiginous impressive outcrop in the middle of the city, Afyonkarahisar, in central Turkey. The earliest fortification was built on this 226m-high summit around 1350 BC by the Hittites. Over the centuries it was occupied and restored by various rulers. The hill is impressive compositionally, three-dimensionally, culturally and among the natural marvels in its category.
