According to by Field Guide to Western Birds, it's hard to say whether it's a Redwing
or Tricolor. It says that the Tricolor has a white (lower) edge instead of yellow,
but it also says the California variety of Redwing lacks a yellow edge to the red
wing spot. The pictured Redwing - and the ones I recall seeing - appears to have a shallower body and longer tail than the bird here. Also the beak of this bird joins
the head higher up. (Tricolor is not pictured.) The bird here, to my eyes, has a
yellow lower edge to his 'epaulet', not white.
