When we entered the grounds of Batu Caves, we encountered some young Indian children who were curious about our interest in them. As we photographed them, their shyness melted away and they even began to lavish the attention we were giving them. I am not very good with people shots, especially children, because I just find it so hard to capture their soul - and they move A LOT! After going through many disasterous shots, this is one of the rare ones I have that managed to capture the enthusiasm, softness and vulnerability of children. I feel like I have made an image that allows the viewer to have a personal connection with this little girl. And in it, a beautiful feeling of trust and intimacy between us and her.
