Religiously Resting

Unlike most religious houses of god, it is rather common to see muslims sleeping inside their mosques. And it appears that Kampung Kling Mosque has its fair share of snoozers too. I noticed this man taking his afternoon nap at one of the entrances to the prayer hall. I juxtaposed this sarong-clad man sleeping in a foetal position with a formal composition of a symmetrical background - to stress this very peculiar sight.

He sleeps, he dreams with feet perfectly aligned, his soul speeds through the bright light in the middle to visit who knows where till it's ready to come back, the fan is still, and the blue curtain on the left seems to have mysteriously been wafted outside its constraints, as though by heavenly forces. The Trinity of the curved arches with their gold decor give this photo a stately air, and the gentle arch above could be the curving hand of God. A perfectly lovely, peaceful image, which I am so happy to have seen!
