This scene of jars perched on the edge of the ghorfa doorways is reminescent of people leaning over their apartment windows. These "residents" of Ksar Ouled Soltane were obviously placed there for decorative effect, but it was not unusual to find earthen jars abandoned in some of the ksour we visited. They were commonly used to store grains and other foods stuffs.
