This is an evocative image on several levels. It is universal in its meaning. In its way, it conveys the a sense of timelessness, just as I was trying to evoke in one of the three images of cattle drives I recently made in Myanmar at
http://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/40194384 Both images were made at sunset, both are layered, both use low key lighting, and both rely on detail to express meaning. The sheep come at us here by the hundreds, yet only three shepherds need lead them, and none appear too concerned with the herd at this moment. The road before them is long, but they have walked it before, as have their fathers, and their fathers fathers. That's why I say the mood and meaning here is timeless. In my own image, the time element is provided by ancient temples. In yours it is the easy, instinctive sense of command that comes to these me by inherited instinct. Sure, I wish you had been able to size image this larger so we could appreciate beauty and meaning of these nuances more easily. But the fact remains that you made this remarkable image in this manner, and have shared it with us here, bringing a close to another remarkable gallery that has so many thought-provoking, humane images within it. Thank you, Celia, for your genius, and your efforts.
