The Good-Luck Weaver

This Berber lady kindly lets us in to have a look at her troglodyte home. She earns part of her income by selling the rugs that she hand-weaves herself. I composed the image of her within the yarns of her loom to show how she becomes one with her work while she deftly manouvers the loom - a skill she depends on for the livelihood of her and her family too. Here she creates a small rug with patterns of hands and fish, symbols of good luck for the Berber people, which worked for her because I bought the very rug which now sits in my living room.

I'm so familiar with my image that I don't realize what other people see into it. Actually, her left hand is there - it's just a blur because she's moving so fast.

I like composition of this one. You abstract this woman and focused on the weaving. But for some reason, I want to see both of her hands…
