The Hippodrome was a place where the popular chariot races were held. The site looked nothing more than a long flatfield with rocks lining its sloped edges where people were believed to have sat. It was not a very interesting place to photograph, but I wanted to make an image that would pull the viewer right into the grandstand as if he were sitting right there, waiting for the races to start.
