The vast, unforgiving salt flats of Chott El Jerid has claimed many lives, human and otherwise. Interestingly, it also became the inhospitable and arid planet of Tatooine, home of Luke Skywalker, for the Star Wars movies. Apparently very little of the set now remains, and locating it would be a difficult task in this vast and featureless expanse of white.
