Myanmar from 8th to 14th January 2011. Weather is good generally from 20 to 28 deg. Pretty cold at Inle Lake at around 3 to 15 deg. Tour Itinerary is Yangon, Bagan, Mandalay, Inle and then back to Yangon. Cost overall is S$2000 inclusive of flight from Singapore (Silk Air) and 4 internal flight using propeller planes. If you're a photographer you must visit Myanmar, its beautiful, fill with Pagodas and monks and the people allows you to photograph them without too much problem.
What are the must see in this country?
In Yangon its the Shwedagon Temples and a walk around the streets in the morning and night.
Bagan, horse cart ride to Nyaung U market. Cruise in the Irrawady river is really nothing much.
There is a very poor fishing village behind the Bagan River View Hotel (great hotel). Bring along sweets, pens, pencil, papers for the poor you will feel good for it, like I did.
The shwezigon temple is another great place to visit, not only the temple but the surrounding villages also. Take sunrise and sunsets of the pagodas from other pagodas.
Mandalay - must visit is Ubein, hire a boat and row around during sunset to take pictures of all kinds of people walking on the bridge.
Mahagondayon Monastery - the monastery with a thousand monks- for a view into the lives of novice monks.
Sagaing Hill with the Caves of Buddhas
Finally Inle lake from Heho town. To me not worth the flight and trip and cold to visit this volcanic lake. The attraction is the intha fishermen who rows with one leg and thats about it.
I think there will be a tourism boom for the next one year and it will be a strain on the infrastructure of this country especially the internal propeller plane flights.
