The Barong Dance. a story of good over evil.
In the 10th century, Erlangga, was the king of Bali. His mother Rangda was
condemned by his father for practicing black magic.
When she became a widow, she summoned all the evil spirits to attack Erlangga.
A fight ensued and Erlangga had to ask the Barong for help, while fighting, Rangda
cast a spell that makes Erlangga's soldiers to kill themselves with their own keris
but the Barong counter a spell that made the soldiers body resistant to the keris and
that scene was enacted in the dance.
