Good photographer friend of mine who still shoots film. Really crappy conditions with feable lighting, but I like how it came out anyway.

what are you talking about ! Although you might have not used a big enough aperture size, the camera shot at a slow shutter speed while your friend was not steady (gave it more blurr and isolation). I figure you had your camera on a Tripod.
