Today was Epiphany and the Greek Orthodox Cathedral here in Tarpon Springs is host to the Diving for the Cross Ceremony. Following a Divine Liturgy there is a procession through downtown to the Spring Bayou. A Blessing is given to all the boys diving for the cross and as part of the blessing a dove is released. A member of the choir is chosen each year to carry the dove and then to release it during the blessing. This year Kalliope age 16 was chosen for the honor. Her brother was among the 60 teenage boys diving for the cross.
