I love this shot. I collect owls so I really have a soft spot for them. Great up close and personal .

This is easier to view on the screen in "large" size instead of the normal viewing of "original" that most folks like viewing images in. In large view the image looks pretty good!

The DOF is good but perhaps a little too shallow (need a smaller aperature, higher f-number). If possible, move closer so you don't need so much zoom. The high end of some zoom lens are not as sharp as the middle or short ends.

You may want to try to turn the flash off and usual available light with higher ISO. Then clean the noise with Noise Ninja or Neat Image. If possible, I like to try one with flash and one without to compare. Either way, flash is probably not preferred as far as animals are concerned, as it frightens them.
