This weekend was the 40th anniversary meeting of a club for bell collectors that my wife joined 25 years ago. She remains, at 58, the youngest and among their most recently joined members. The question in the group now is whether there will be enough remaining interest for there to be a 50th anniversary. The meeting was held in the home of the oldest member (now 95) and is where the club was founded in 1965. The house was constructed in 1938 from salvaged materials and no one would guess it was less than 100 years old. This is the front door. Several of the members were brought to the meeting by younger relatives or neighbors but the period of interest in collecting bells as a hobby for younger people seems to have passed. This is a hobby which 'time' seems to have left behind.
