Harbor Seal Pup
Seals often leave their pups up on shore and go fishing then come back for them hours later when the tide returns. I was fortunate that someone stopped me on the drive out to the end of this wildlife reserve to an area I had never been before and told me about the seal's location. It was my first close up encounter in the wild with a seal and even though it was on the ocean side and very cold out, I was thrilled to be there. There was another photographer there when I arrived and he was down on his belly shooting. A few people came and went and I ended up going back after having checked out the next accessible area. I was able to stand with in a couple feet of the pup.
