Steve Sprengel

Lincoln, Nebraska

Three Geminids

275 frame composite from 12:35am to 1:15am CDT 12/14/2004
Maximum-Combined using ImagesPlus 2.0.

Betelgeuse top left, Rigel middle left, Aldebaran and Pleiades top middle.

The two fainter trails enhanced to bring them out of the noise.

Custom white-balanced on the sky glow to negate the sodium vapor orange.

Calibrated the exposure to make the sky glow appear 1/5th across the histogram.

The Phoenix 0.25X in front of the 50mm f/1.8 has terrible coma but this
was the only way to get enough light to catch these fast moving meteors.

45 minutes of 15-sec at f/3.5 the night before yielded nothing.

45 minutes of 5-sec at f/1.8 tonight yielded three,
but the other two were very faint.

Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel ,Canon 50mm f/1.8
5s f/1.8 at 50.0mm, Phoenix 0.25x Super Fisheye, iso1600, full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto
