Doug Smith

They sure are cuddly but not pets. Taken in the nocturnal house at the Metro Richmond (VA) zoo handheld but using PIS (personal image stabilization) feature (I was leaning against the glass). Note that like IS, PIS does no good when one of the subjects moved during the exposure. On the left is the original image; the right is converted to B&W. I was surprised to see some gain in detail in the fur. Depth of Field limited sharpness to three in the middle but one of them was the one that moved. It's not a perfect shot but something I had to try with the fast lens.

Wonderful Image!
Yes we need bats,
as do we need the insect & bugs.
We wouldn't be here without them.

Bob, I'm surprized you didn't recognize that they are smiling. Someone once said, "A smile is just a frown turned upside down." Doug

I love this and it reminds me how much we all need bats. Cute guys! I voted for it.

Thanks for reminding me how much I dislike bats. Thanks also for including the before and after and info on taking the photo. I enjoy and appreciate reading about obstacles and solutions to them. Janet
