Claude

Primitive Baptist Church, Cade's Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This image was manipulated in Photoshop Elements, combining several shots which each had a different exposure, in order to capture detail in this difficult lighting. This is my first "composite" attempt. Comments?

Thank you for your supportive comments! Gary, I took several shots in high JPEG, at different exposures for the outside, pews and (window light) highlights. Then I made layers of all the exposures in Photoshop Elements, using as my background the one which captured the inside shadow detail best. I selected the window in one level, and highlights in another, using a feathered edge so that it wouldn't be obvious. Selecting "inverse", I then cut away everything else from the respective levels. The only problem, which isn't terribly obvious, is that the wood between the window panes is quite dark. Oh well! ... Claude

A very good job IMO. This shot is impossible with a camera and to get any sort of result like this you have to make at least a couple of composites. Did you use the ONE exposure and make the dupes from RAW?
