Early Friday morning (June 11), I was standing in Arches National Park,
looking at the Milky Way. At about the same time many others, who I see
as kindred souls, were gathered at Albert Pike Recreational Area, in the
Ouachita National Forest, for much the same reasons I was in Arches.
These people were fighting for their lives, as the river there was
suddenly rising some 20 feet. There was no escape. At least 18 of them
died, and many more continue to be missing. Ages of the dead so far
found, according to reports, range from 5 to 69 years. My heart goes
out the those who lost loved ones, family and friends in Arkansas.
