A brush with death this week makes me even more
cognitive of the idea to "carpe diem."
A note of thanks to Joe Lasker and Bob Gilley
who met me at the hospital on the day of my
car crash, and who were like my left and right
arms when I quite literally couldn't use my
own body that day. They know the help they
gave, and hopefully also my deep appreciation
for hanging in with their curmudgeon friend.
A special note of thanks and gratitude to all in
emergency services for Nyack, New York on the morning of
August 1, 2009 -- police, fire dept., ambulance, and
hospital staff -- all those who came to my rescue,
secured and protected my belongings, picked up after
the wreckage, and personally attended to my trapped
and hurt condition in a timely, and most professional
manner.
Good folks are everywhere.... and most certainly on
that day, a good number of them seemed to be working
for emergency services for Nyack, New York. Humbly as
I can say it, thank-you -- you were the people who
made sure my care was ANYTHING OTHER than just duct
tape triage.
As for the duct tapes stuff?.... well, you have to
figure it was going to come out in my story somewhere,
didn't you? :-)
