I felt as if I was in a Disney movie yesterday (June 25, 2005. Shot in Santa Barbara, CA,
at the Natural History Museum. It was their Annual Butterfly exhibit.

It was so excitingly charming to walk about the large netted enclosure, filled with glorious flowers, and have butterflies land on me! I was thrilled from head to toes.. %;)

I am delighted to be informed that many species of beautiful bugs do have longer
natural lifetimes than a mere fortnight. My source of information was the staff at the
Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, where I shot these images. Thank you so much,
Paula and Nick %:] and the rest of you. I decided to change the title of this gallery
from 'a mere two weeks - a butterfly's average lifespan', since quite a few of you provided
different facts.

All of my butterfly photos were done hand held, with the one and only lens I have for my D70... the Nikkor 18-70 mm.
