unHAPPY CAMPER

I was tempted to make some joke about being
finally hauled off to the Funny Farm :)..seeing
as how my Grandmother is wearing her nurse's
uniform.
Nope..still waiting for that one..grin..
By the way, that was an old car on the
day this pic was shot :))
This is my first trip to HollyWoodland
Camp for Girls. My two older cousins
also went. They are 4 years older and
at this time would have nothing to do
with this child.. They were almost teenagers..
and I embarrassed them by wearing my favorite
one piece zip up outfit every day at the flag
raising ceremonies. What the heck did I know..
it was easy and comfortable:).. That was the
only time I saw them.

The best part about the camp was the pool!
After swimming they would haul out shiny metal
trash cans filled with oranges cut in half.
After besting the bees for the prize, the
oranges were wonderful! Ahh memories..
I hope this starts you recalling the days
of your lives.. Cheers

I learned how to braid a lanyard, archery, and improvise songs to be awarded a pine cone when I went to Hollywoodland Camp for Girls (1950's - 1960's. I started out as a camper, later became a kitchen aide, then a pioneer, and finally worked as a counselor -- "Sunbeam"). Do you have any more camp photos or brochures please? Do you remember "Bluebird"?
